Mid-Kansas Community Action provides a variety of community services that are designed to deliver practical, specfic assistance to the people who need it most. Sometimes those people are victims of a natural disaster. Mid Kansas CAP is there, marshalling the volunteers and organizing the field support teams that deliver whatever is needed to people who have suddenly lost everything. Sometimes they are people who just need a new set of marketable skills to find the job that will make them self-sufficient. Mid-Kansas is there, too, with job training programs and help with job searches. And sometimes what is needed is just basic help with basic needs like finances, transportation and keeping the heat on in the dead of winter. Does it work? Absolutely. Mid-Kansas serves thousands of people each year who take the leg up we give them and use it to climb all the way out of the most difficult circumstances. We can help with: Job Training Tax Preparation Rent/Utilities/Transportation/Food Case Management Financial Counseling. When you find yourself without even the most basic necessities of life, having the wherewithal to pull yourself out of that situation can be a few steps removed from a realistic expectation. Especially in an era of drastically limited economic opportunity.
